Since our founding in 2016, our mission at Tern Water has been to provide
people with access to safe and sustainable water through innovative products
and services that provide better information about contaminants and make water
safer at the point of use.
All testing services are conducted using lab certified equipment with routine validation procedures to ensure that the data we are gathering is accurate. Tern Water has never claimed to be an accredited lab, but looks to gain the certification with the methodologies used during this campaign. We aspire to empower everyone to easily be able to understand their water.
Although after some research we came across this “The Philadelphia water department, accused by some experts of having water testing “worse than Flint”, is facing a class action lawsuit.” as a reported by The Guardian.
Tern Water’s business model does not challenge the practices of municipalities, as they are heavily monitored by the EPA under the Safe Water Drinking Act, which states “The Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) is the federal law that protects public drinking water supplies throughout the nation. Under the SDWA, EPA sets standards for drinking water quality and with its partners implements various technical and financial programs to ensure drinking water safety”. It is understood that a multitude of natural and physical occurrences can lead to treated water being contaminated, and Tern Water looks to bridge the gap between water treatment and degrading infrastructure to ensure consumers have access to sustainable, and healthy water at the point of use.
We intend to work with all parties needed to help people get access to sustainable and healthy water. The water commissioner in Philadelphia has reached out to us, and we have scheduled a meeting for the near future. We will also be releasing a few announcements within the upcomings months that will be focused on helping empower people to better understand their water, and ensure they have access to healthy water.
